Home Improvement Design Build With A Dc Architect

Thinking of doing some home remodelling? Your on a budget and have never done this scope of remodelling before. You’ve done some work on your home, but it’s only been handy man type stuff. You know what you like, but have absolutely no idea how to go about doing it. Let me help you here, with a few ideas and you will see the benefits of hiring a professional team.

This is where a professional “design build contractor” comes into play. In a design build process, you will be working with a team of professionals who will work with your budget, listen to what it is you are looking for in your renovation. This team will consist of a design team who will work closely with the permit specialist, estimators, managers and all other professionals involved. This team of professionals will keep the project on target and on time. We start with a set of drawings designed for your renovation. That is specific to your ideas and dreams of what you want.

The team considers many different aspects of your project before finishing the design.  These factors include the current appearance of your home’s exterior, the purpose of the room or rooms, your lifestyle, how to ensure a good traffic flow, and the room enhancements that you desire.

The design build process is perfect for a residential project. You, the homeowner, will be assured all of your goals will be meet. Your design will come in two parts. A computer generated model, on paper, and the actual project.

The process has four stages: Schematic Design starts with the physical conditions of your house, your goals, needs and the development the design while working closely with you. The computer generated design is also part of this phase. When your approval has been given on the design and the cost then the next is the design development.

The design build team compiles all the necessary final information during the Design Development stage of the process.  All the required permits are obtained, the estimate is done again, the drawings are further refined, and all the professionals working on the project are contacted.  Design Development is the stage where we present the project’s permits to the building department and give you the final price for the project.

Here, in the third step, Construction Documents – the final paperwork is assembled. Specifications, finished drawings, schedules have already been completed and work has already begun. And finally…the Production phase.

The Production phase is where the actual work has begun. Your professional team will manage the progress and perform all the construction. Your manager is responsible for all the communication, coordination, assembling and labor on your project. The design team will follow up and always be available to answer any and all questions you may have during this time. They will work closely with you and address any concerns you may have. And at the end or completion of the project you will be given a “Certificate of Occupancy.” This is required, by the building department, when the job is finished.
